On Saturday, April 12, 2025, the University of Redlands Track and Field team competed at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational in Claremont, California, facing athletes from 25 other teams.
Track and Field Head Coach Mike Schmidt watches his athletes during competition. Heading into the outdoor season, Schmidt was named West Region Women’s Coach of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the 2025 indoor season.
Ashleigh Merrill ‘25 and Sabrina Semmere ‘26 compete in the women’s 200-meter race. Earlier in the meet, Merrill participated in the long jump while Semmere raced in the 4×100-meter relay and the open 400, showcasing their versatility across events.
Pole vaulter Nate Reinhard ‘28 prepares for his final attempt. In addition to pole vault, Reinhard also competes in the high jump for the Bulldogs.
Women’s 4×400-meter relay team members Elisabeth Eichinger ‘26, Faith Kasper ‘27, and Sabrina Semmere ‘26 discuss race strategy with Coach Mike Schmidt. The team placed fourth out of 13 with a time of 3:57.87, finishing just three seconds off their personal best.
Jude Holling ‘28 runs his leg of the men’s 4×400-meter relay. Holling was named SCIAC Newcomer of the Year for the 2025 track and field season, highlighting his standout freshman year.
Sprinter Sabrina Semmere ‘26 races her leg of the relay. At the Pomona Invite, she competed in four events and currently ranks second all-time in the 200-meter and fourth all-time in the 100-meter in Redlands’ history.
Triple jumper Maigan Adams ’25 lands her meet-winning mark (12.22m, 40′ 1.25″). Adams was named SCIAC Field Athlete of the Year for the 2025 season and earned All-American honors after competing at the NCAA Division III Championships, where she placed 16th nationally.
