On April 4, 2025, the Redlands Campus Activities Organization (DAWGS) hosted a Build-A-DAWG event to kick-off Finals Week.
Assistant Dean of Leadership and Engagement Heaven Rivera offers felt hearts for students to put in their plushies at the Build a DAWG event on April 4. The hearts were a new addition to this annual event, which had only featured dog, bear, and lamb plushies along with stuffing last year. 
Libby Oxciano ‘28 selects which stuffed animal to take home. This year’s event featured more animal options than in previous years, giving students a wider variety to choose from. 
Assistant Dean of Leadership and Engagement Heaven Rivera joins former DAWGS co-presidents Adelaide Hubble ’27 and Angelina Ybanez ’27 in hosting the event. This is one of many student-centered programs the trio has helped DAWGS plan and organize over the year. 
Students are stuffing their new friends at Hunsaker Plaza. The Build-A-DAWG event had a high turnout, offering a creative and comforting break from the stress of Finals Week. 
Students Teresa Cardenas-Wallenfelt ‘28, Alana Moyer ‘28, and McKenzie Rose ‘28 smile with their stuffed animals. For the three of them, the most popular animal choice was the highland cow. 
Community members of all ages take part in building their stuffed animals. The event welcomed participants beyond just students, creating a fun and inclusive atmosphere on campus.

Jazzalyn Trejo ‘27 gets ready to stuff her axolotl. The bright pink axolotl was one of the most popular choices at this year’s Build-A-DAWG event, beloved for its cute and cheerful appearance. 
Harvest Table employees select their stuffed animals during the Build-A-DAWG event. Just like the students, they had the chance to make and take home a furry friend, adding to the inclusive spirit of the day.
