Come listen to Gregory Ramos of @uofr_theatre and Ashley Lucas talk about their experiences integrating art and activism and the effectiveness of artistic expression in sharing stories and healing. With a focus on the public practice of performance, the talk will address the social productivity of the arts as a means of affecting social change. The speakers will specifically address their work related to art in prisons, and a range of current concerns including gun violence, racism, and immigration.

“Native Hawaiian Language Revitalization” by Native Student Programs:

Dr. Kanahele is a PhD candidate in Hawaiian and Indigenous Language and Cultural Revitalization and is an instructor at Hawai’i Community College’s Hawai’i Life Styles program. Her research focuses on Papahulihonua, the study of Native Hawaiian earth sciences as found in Pele literature. She has presented her research to native Hawaiian practitioners, educators, and various organizations, such as Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park, the County of Hawai’i, and Google X.
