After the freak accident that led to his lecture being cancelled, Shaun King has been confirmed to come to the University on Sept. 27, 2017. King is internationally known for his insights on, and commitment to racial justice in the U.S.
He was scheduled to give a lecture in Memorial Chapel on Feb. 22 as apart of Convocation and Lectures ‘spring political series, but sustained a serious injury just a few days prior to that scheduled date. King was speaking at Xavier University when he fell off the stage and tore his rotator cuff from his shoulder as he grabbed onto a beam in attempt of mitigating the fall. The injuries King sustained in the incident resulted in a required invasive surgical procedure and significant recovery time.
Senior and Current Executive Director of ASUR Convocations and Lectures, Jacob Khuri, has been in contact with King and his team since the incident and has been able to ensure King will be able to come to the University campus in the Fall.
More details will be available as the event nears.
