KDAWG, University of Redlands’ radio station, is hosting RadCon, its annual Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) industry conference, from 9 a.m- 4:30 p.m this Saturday, Nov. 14 in Hall of Letters.
RadCon offers students, faculty, and anyone interested in broadcast journalism an opportunity to hear and learn about the industry first hand. 12 panels and 18 panelists from different media organizations will be sharing their insight. NPR, ABC Radio, Fox Sports and 20th Century Fox will be featured, along with radio stations such as KCOD Coachella FM and KBeach Radio.
Registration begins at 8 a.m, and the conference officially commences at 9 a.m with a brief presentation from KDAWG. Throughout the day, RadCon will present panels on women in industry, sports reporting, promoting and building the image of a radio station and much more. Evan Sanford, University of Redlands junior and KDAWG station manager is proud to be a key player in the second annual RadCon.
“I am excited because this is the one event we put on a year, and it truly makes a difference in the lives of our students, cultivating a new generation of students interested in the broadcasting industry,” Sanford said. “To see our students working alongside industry professionals is unlike any other thing that I’ve seen at this school.”
RadCon is free to University of Redlands students, and $45 per student in an IBS registered school. A free lunch is provided. Come and learn all about the broadcasting industry from professionals who have years of experience to share.
